Do You Actually Know If You Owe The Tax Office Anything? DIS+ Will Tell You In Seconds

Here is an uncomfortable question. If the tax office thought you owed them money right now, would you know?

A lot of freelancers genuinely do not, until a letter shows up, or worse, until a penalty shows up. The good news is there is a free tool that answers this instantly, and most people who have it available simply never set it up.

What DIS+ actually is

DIS+ is the Czech tax office’s online portal, basically your personal dashboard for everything tax related. Once you are logged in, you can see your payments, your balances, your full history, and your upcoming deadlines, all in one place.

This means you can check in two minutes whether you have an outstanding balance somewhere, instead of finding out the hard way.

What else it lets you do

Beyond just checking for unpaid amounts, DIS+ lets you file tax returns directly, since it is linked with the EPO system and can even pre fill some of your data. You can also set up a personal tax calendar with reminders, and if you work with an accountant or tax advisor, you can authorize them to access your account directly through the portal, no paperwork chasing required.

How to actually get access

This is the part people skip, and you really should not. You can log in with BankID, eObčanka, NIA, Mobile Key, or your data box (datová schránka).

If you already have a data box or Bank ID set up for anything else, this takes about two minutes. If you do not have either yet, it is genuinely worth setting one up just for this, since both are becoming the standard way to deal with Czech authorities online anyway.

Our honest recommendation

Set this up now, before you need it, not during a scramble in April. Two minutes today can save you an unpleasant surprise later, and knowing your numbers at a glance is exactly the kind of quiet confidence that makes running a business here feel a lot less stressful.

If portals and logins like this still feel confusing, we walk through exactly how to set them up, step by step, in the Czech Freelancer Starter Kit.
